choir :]
We were already standing in our places on the stairs in front of the pulpit facing the benches meant for the congregation. We made three rows. The foremost row was made up completely of sopranos while the second row was two-thirds alto, one-third soprano. The men would be behind everyone else on the third row: half bass, half tenor.

I stood on the right side of the second row, the soprano side. To my left was Maam Melanie, a teacher at Good Shepherd Christian Academy. To my right was Janette, a new choir member. It was her first practice last Wednesday, and tomorrow would be her first time to sing for the Lord as a member of the BBC-BXU Choir.

I hugged the red folder containing the music sheets. It was cold. The airconditioners were off but the windows were left open and it felt colder than if we had been using the airconditioners.

The choir director, known to others as Kim and to everyone else younger than him as Kuya Kim, motioned for us to move farther apart. We must have been standing too close to each other because of the cold. I hugged the folder tighter as a chilling breeze passed through the windows.

Obedient, I took a step to my left. I heard one of the tenors call out my name so I turned around to see who it was. Then the lights went out.

Everything was dark and I couldn't see anything. My shin hit the stairstep behind me which, after a few seconds, would be the same step I'd land on. I stood up. The dark was convenient but I was a bit noisy when I hit my shin so, even though nobody saw what happened, someone must have definitely heard.

Kuya Kim told us to sit down while we waited for the power to come back. Everyone sat on the steps except Ate Lovela and Ate JM. They lay down on the steps. Many had already turned on their cellphones for light.

so, okay.. i don't have enough time to continue this now.. to be continued nlang sa ni. T.T
